InterNACHI has specific Standards of Practice for commercial inspections. Cal West Home Inspection follows these Standards completely. Our commercial inspections are done in two parts: a research segment, and the physical inspection.

The research segment includes the review of documents such as building plans, fire-prevention plans, permits, and Certificates of Occupancy. In addition, we interview the person who knows the most about the building's condition, usually the owner or manager. The goal of the research segment is to gather information to support the physical inspection.

The physical inspection includes the systems and components of a residential inspection, as well as:

  • Storm water drainage systems
  • Emergency evacuation egress
  • Parking areas
  • Sidewalks
  • Exterior lighting
  • General landscaping
  • Life safety items such as
    • Visibility of the building address from the street
    • Presence of fire alarms and fire extinguishers

We strive to make our commercial inspections as non-disruptive to existing tenants as possible.
